When Should My Child See an Orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a child’s first orthodontic check-up by age 7. At that age, enough adult teeth have come in for us to spot issues with bite, spacing, or jaw growth early, when they are often simpler to guide. Early treatment does not always mean braces right away, sometimes it just means watching closely at the right time.

For teens and adults, it is rarely too late. Many of our patients start treatment well into adulthood with braces or Invisalign.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check-up by age 7. This lets us catch bite and jaw-growth issues early, when they are often easier to guide. It does not always mean starting braces right away.

It depends on the case, the child’s age, and how consistently they will wear aligners. Braces work for almost any situation, while Invisalign suits many teens and adults who want a removable, nearly invisible option. Dr. Kotak will recommend the right fit at your consultation.

No. Many adults straighten their teeth with braces or Invisalign. Healthy teeth can be moved at almost any age.

Most treatments take roughly 12 to 24 months, though it varies with the case. We give you a clearer estimate after the first consultation.

Yes. Orthodontic consultations are free. Call us to book one, often available the same week.
